On November 15th and beyond, joint action could be agreed upon. Actions could be easy to implement, even at a personal level, as for example:
- One Joint Slogan :
SAVE LIVES AND JOBS, NOT BANKS
I had suggested “The Poor Have Their Say ,” Sylvia Borren has come up with “Save Lives and Jobs Not Banks,” which is better. We might want to add “WE WANT CHANGE ,” just to surf off the new wave.
- One Symbol : A White Bracelet
The white Bracelet already symbolizes the struggle for the poor in GCAP Campaigns. There is no reason to search for another one.
- One drawing
We could ask a famous cartoonist to do it (like Plantu, whom Henri could sollicitate). And then anybody could just reproduce it.
- One minute of silence at noon across the planet
During 24 hours, a minute of silence every hour in every place where it is Noon .
- Articles published in the Press under the same title
Submit articles to the press under the same title – « Save Lives and Jobs, not Banks » but with different content (corresponding to each CSO’s vision)
- Letters to heads of States by National Platforms
The Coalition of National Platforms has already planned this. But again, they could have the same headline.
- Personal emails or letters by people to governments and institutions.
In addition, anyone could take part by standing in front of his/her home or workplace with the slogan, the bracelet, the drawing…
- Web Visibility
A web portal, providing visibility for the geo-localisation and videos of all the events and possibly a series of links between them. This is something Bridge Initiative can do through its existing O-Change platform.
- Street Demonstrations
As Gustave Massiah said, there is no reason not to have them if people and organisations want to but it’s a bit late for November 15. An idea could be to gather CSOs in front of Stock Exchange Locations ( Wall Street, Frankfurt, la Bourse, the City, etc. ) in rich countries. While in developing countries, it could be around conventional market places...where one can feel the cost of living..
