> December 2008 call for Projects and Competitors
Although the O-Change Platform will have already been on-line since July 2008, the outlines and criteria of the Olympiads for Change will be known and have received popular acclaim and participation a specific event will mark the symbolic launch. There will be a joint call for projects to be presented by young people on the theme of the Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This joint call will be launched together with different independant personnalities (from the Elders, the Nobels, Ashoka, Right Livelihood, Ted, etc), young people and all those Ngos, Institutions, etc … which have been gathered by Bridge Initiative around this global project.
The Palais de Chaillot in Paris, where the Universal Declaration was signed in 1948, could provide the venue and the opportunity to launch the O-Change Appeal. On October 17 2008, ATD Quart Monde is planning a special event gathering 1000 young people to celebrate this Day against Poverty. Similar events will take place all over the world.
Later on, in December for the 60th Anniversary of the UDHr, we hopethat anumber of cities will also adopt the O-Change agenda. Bridge Initiative is in touch with United Cities for this.
From one city to another. The symbolic focal point on that date (it might be the 8th, the 9th, the 11th or the 12th, as on the 10th the launch of the Olympiads might go unnoticed), Lille will also provide the lead for many other towns and cities, small and large that wish to be associated with the Olympiad approach from the outset. It will be up to them to qualify, by adopting what we call the « DNA cell » for the time being, of a partner, an organiser or an event-related process. For example, San Francisco, founding city of the United Nations, where the channel LinkTV hopes to be associated with the Olympiads for Change.
